After being back from our trip for some months now, Jen decided to make a Moroccan chicken dish, mmmm! yummy, although, it wasn’t like anything we tasted.
The meals don’t mean much without a story. So, I have captured the establishments, the plates and, of course, the reviews. This is the second post of four. I will provide a rating, one (1) being the worst and ten (10) being the best of the trip. It’s in Chronological order.
Making the trip across from Tarifa Spain to Tangier Morocco. The 45 minute ferry ride provided a limited balance between being heckle and going to the end of the line. (See “The Moroccan Experience” post).Driving to Chefchaouen, we stopped at this tacky type restaurant with dishes on the signs. It turned out to be the best food of tour.Walking into the Restaurant, you presented with Tagine plates at the front displaying the above contents. Then you walked past the biggest salad bar I’ve ever seen. Roasted Veggies topped over a slow cooked lamb. Lamb Tagine 9/10Crusty bread to soak up the gravy of the Tagine. 8/10The drive continues on to Chefchaouen.Once in Chefchaouen, carrying our bags through the narrow indigo streets to reach our hotel.Traditional Moroccan Maghrebi mint tea which is poured by starting at the glass then raised to above shoulder height. 8/10For lunch the next day, we were spruikered to one of the main square’s cafe and serenaded by a Berber music group.OK, the cafe offered pizza, Lamb with olives and green capsicum. 5/10The locals are a little cheeky.Local farmers selling their produce. One bag at a time.A little Moroccan snack. 3/10Brewed tea down at Breakfast. Tripping south to FezRoadside meals if you wanted them. Not for me.Loads of pottery on the roadside, especially conical Tagine pot lids.Reaching the Royal Palace in Fez.Markets in the Jewish quarters. Any takers?Start of the Fez Medina markets. Lots of dates. 7/10I didn’t ask.Anything goes.Traditional flaky bread tossed on the dome to cook.Highly decorated meal only for the tourist in the Fez.Chicken and lamb Kebabs with couscous. 8/10The Fez Medina from the restaurant roof. The Marrakech express from Fez. What are they playingArriving at Marrakech touring the streets to the Kutubiyya mosque.Rooftop restaurant at the Marrakech square. Can’t remember what I had, sorry.Although at breakfast the next morning, we were provided a nice spread. I’m starting to see a theme here, bread products and olives. 4/10Saying goodbye to MoroccoSit back and relax with a Swiss Air muesli and yogurt dish. 2/10Arriving in Geneva, sitting down with a nice traditional German dish. With so much more to go, I might need to add another post to the four part series. We’ll see. If you like the story, leave a comment either on the blog or on Facebook.
